This was my very first attempt at writing poetry in Spanish. I remember coming home from Rivier College and had finished reading a book in Spanish called Ladron de la Mente. The plot piqued my interest and made me wonder what it would be like to have an imaginary lover. I purposely ended and began lines with the same words, a play on words if you will. I’ve tried to translate it to English, but it doesn’t seem to have the right flow, maybe I’ll keep trying.

Solamente pienso en ti mi amor.
Mi amor de la mente.
Y cuando estamos juntos,
juntos estamos solamente.

Quisiera decirte cosas.
Cosas que no he podido.
No he podido decirtelas,
porque solo existes en mi mente.
